Turn last month's email receipts into an expense report
A categorized monthly expense summary built from receipts sitting in your inbox
On the first of each month, go through my Gmail for the previous month and find every receipt and order confirmation — purchases, subscriptions, renewals, refunds. For each one extract: date, merchant, description, amount, currency, and category (software, travel, meals, shopping, other — use your judgment but stay consistent month to month). Dedupe duplicate notifications for the same charge and treat refunds as negative amounts. Then give me a monthly expense report: total spend, totals by category, the five largest charges, any new recurring subscriptions that appeared this month, plus the full line-item table. If an email is clearly a receipt but the amount isn't readable, list it under 'needs review' instead of dropping it.
